Familiar with Global Entry?

Fly International a lot?

Then beat the Customs-Wait-In-Line syndrome by getting both an expedited passage through US customs as well as TSA Precheck status!!!
I just signed up for Global Entry this pass month. The process was easy with most of it being accomplished online. I had to go to Sky Harbor in Phoenix for an interview which was exceedingly simple and took less than 5 minutes
Although there are services online that are happy to charge you a fee for doing the "heavy work" of registering you with Global Entry, I don't see how it could be any more simple than doing it yourself online at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website

It was fast and simple. The only thing you need to be careful about is to go back to the website once in a while after you have finished applying since they will NOT send you a notice that your application has been approved.

There is a four step process to the application.

  1. Register online at the above website link.
  2. Check back on the website to see if your application has been approved.
  3. Upon approval apply for a face-to-face interview at the most convenient location available to you. For me, it was at Sky Harbor in Phoenix.
  4. Go to the location, taking your passport and another form of id such as your drivers license. They will take a photo of you and your finger prints and that's about it!

Simple and easy.

Although they will send you a card, the card is not required when you go through TSA or customs as your passport will be connected to your Global Entry registration.

I will begin using Global Entry on my trip to Japan starting the day after tomorrow.

Oh, the cost of the Global Entry is $100 and is good for five years or the expiration date of your passport, whichever comes first.
